Description
A section of the destroyed pier at Frisco on the Southern Outer Banks in North Carolina and many birds. The pier was built in 1962. It had been a beloved and well-known OBX landmark - until it was destroyed by hurricanes and tropical storms. It has been closed for years - its last season was in 2008. And later this year (late fall of 2016) it is scheduled to finally be taken down. Pier, pilings, planks, and pier house - erased from the horizon as if it never existed.
Funding for repair was sought but never realized. The Frisco pier, like all old wooden piers up and down the North Carolina coast, are a disappearing species. There are no plans to rebuild a pier at the same location. 2493. Original art for decorating or gifts from fine art photographer and artist Dan Carmichael. Available as a fine art color photograph and as a black & white fine art print with texture. #photography #painting #homedecor #fineart
