Description
The beauty of the Outer Banks (OBX) and North Carolina coast. The Outer Banks and North Carolina coast - ocean, beach, waves, surf, fishing, boats, sand dunes, . It's all there to enjoy all seasons of the year - winter, spring, summer, and fall.
This is an artistic rendering of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse which is located on the Outer Banks (OBX) in the state of North Carolina.
The Cape Hatteras lighthouse is iconic on the Outer Banks, the most well-known for the state of North Carolina, and is also considered one of the most recognizeable and famous lighthouses in the world.
Over 175,000 people visit the lighthouse each year, climbing its 257 steps. The Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest brick lighthouse in the world and can project its light 20 miles out to sea. It is 208 feet tall.
This is actually the second lighthouse built on Hatteras Island by the U.S. Government. Construction on this lighthouse began in 1868. Because of beach erosion, the lighthouse was moved inland a little in 1999, making it the tallest brick structure in history to ever be moved.
This artistic rendering is composed from two original photographs. Nothing was done with automatic painting programs. The lighthouse was painted by hand, but I liked the smoothness of the sky and water so left it alone. 4040-42LH. #photography #painting #homedecor #fineart
