Description
A lighted standing driftwood bush and a sand dune is in the foreground. A slightly orange streak of light lights the sky on the horizon, the first light of the day, radiating from the sunrise that is about to happen. And the distant planets and constellations comprise this beautiful pre-sunrise scene on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
On the right side of the picture is the planet Venus, the morning star. The planet Venus is the brightest object in the sky behind the sun and moon. Just below the planet Venus is the constallation Scorpius - Scorpio. The red star toward the horizon is the star Antares - a red supergiant. It is part of the constellation Scorpius.
A crystal clear East coast morning afforded this beautiful picture of the dark sky, planets, sunrise, and constallations. For those doubting the authenticity of the picture - that it might be a composite - you can look it up on your star tables. The picture was taken 12/28/2007 at 6:58 in the morning. The picture is unique, original and authentic.
