A beautiful view of distant mountains as seen from Glacier Point. Glacier Point is located in Yosemite National Park in California and is part of the magnificent Sierra Nevada mountain range. From Glacier Point you can see some of Yosemite's most well-known landmarks such as Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Vernal Fall, Nevada Fall, and Clouds Rest. This picture was taken in June and you can still see substantial snow on the distant mountains. Snow was still on the ground in and around Glacier Point itself.
The road to Glacier Point is closed in winter months due to snow. The road is plowed for visitation during the warmer seasons and usually opens in May or June, depending upon the depth of the snow pack. Always check the plowing schedule of the U.S. Park Service before visiting. Visiting Yosemite park before Glacier Point road is open would be a huge letdown because one of the best views in Yosemite is from there. 1970-71. #photography #painting #homedeco...
